People do not seem to realize that life changes each day .Go climb a mountain, float down a flowing river, walk a trail, enjoy nature while it still exists. I have done all of them!
At the rate we are destroying our planet, our home, the only home we have, in the name of greed and money, we will no longer be able to grow food to feed the masses. We are poisoning our lands with chemicals, our waters with trash, our air with pollutants.
Why?
Can you not see, or do you choose not to? Are we that shallow, or do we not care about future generations?
Our government has been bought and paid for by Special Interests, who care about nothing but their own nests. They care not about others who they deem to be inferior to them.
I have walked this beautiful country for many years.
When you pass through the Great Smokie Mountains and see dead stands of trees, killed by cars and acid rain from coal fired plants, it makes you want to cry. People do not seem to understand that life and circumstances change each day. Our failure to adapt to changing conditions makes all of us less safe and secure. We allow entire mountaintops to be stripped bare to access the coal beneath them, not only ruining pristine ranges but adding massive amounts of pollutants into the air, soil, and water. We run pipelines through areas that should never be, threatening water supplies and farmlands to ruination. Donald Trump, through ignorance and greed, is destroying anything he can, simply because he can. It has to stop!
They pay our workers the lowest wage they can get away with, thereby putting hard working people on food stamp programs in order to survive. This is Corporate Welfare! Congress votes themselves a pay raise of thousands of dollars, yet you can't get a living wage. We are the driving force behind our economy. If we go down, everything goes down!
I can no longer stand idly by and watch the destruction of my land. I must stand up and yell, hell no, and you must too. Alternative sources of energy exist, and we must commit ourselves to developing them. We must stop the constant exploitation of our lands purely for profit. There are other solutions available, but they don't produce untold riches for the 1%. We must come together in unity and fight like our lives depend on it, because they do!
