Fighting the good fight

Virus!

4/22/2020

Here we are on April 22nd, almost 4 months into this debacle,  with no end in sight, deaths still rising every day and the Republican/Cheat/Governor of Georgia wants to open massage parlors and dine in restaurants and tattoo parlors. What could possibly go wrong with that? After all, Georgia IS in the Bible Belt!
And now the Mayor of Las Vegas wants in on the game! Don't these people care about the fact that first of all, the airline industry has 2/3 of it's capacity parked on the ground in various places around the world, so you can't get there right now anyway, and secondly, bringing all those people together to be dispersed all over the states when they leave, spreading the virus, because this time it doesn't stay in Vegas!
MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because that's what we all amount to, MONEY. Care not about whether your life is grand --- or miserable. It's all about money and greed.  They have it, you don't!
By the way, as I write this, I am enjoying one of the only perks of this lock-down, freshly bottled homemade blackberry wine!
Now, back to my tirade.
I get the fact that this is probably the first time in their lives that people don't have any security, are afraid of where their next meal is coming from.
I get the fact that people are becoming more fearful of their position in life, because without the continuity of our financial status, everything we have is worthless. If you can't drink it, smoke it or eat it, it's worthless!
But realize this!  Our country, or what's left of it, will go on for several reasons. The first is that all wealthy people cannot be that way without you, your are their modern day indentured servants! You build things for them to sell and make a handsome profit. Do you see that profit? I thought not!,
But secondly, and most importantly, many more people are going to die before this is over, whether it be by COVID, whether it be by hunger or stress, or whether it be by civil uprisings because the food chain has broken down (and it may) and people with guns (you remember, those pieces of steel that shoot people) are killing for a morsel of food or water.
If this is not handled properly (and I guaranty it will not be), this could be the biggest disaster this country has ever faced. It already is. The dominoes are already falling and I wonder if we can stop them without too much more damage.
I end this with very mixed feelings about our planet and it's inhabitants. We have an opportunity to change much, and start with a new slate. Let's not squander the chance!
As always and especially now, may you find peace and stay safe.

I am a 70 year young soul with the grit and stamina of a 40 year old, who has much to contribute before I decide to leave this world.
I believe in equal rights for all. I am no better or worse than you unless you or I prove otherwise.
You do not have the right to determine my life any more than I have the right to determine yours.
Your beliefs are your beliefs, mine are mine. If they happen to coincide, wonderful!
If not, let's talk about it!
We can make this world a better place,
but it will take all of us working together!
