The decline of the Republican Party!

It should come as no surprise to anyone why we have a person like #45 in office today. He is the culmination of the takeover by radical conservatives beginning with Richard Nixon. With the advent of Watergate, the decline began. The first President in our history to resign, because of corruption. And the first President to have to replace his running mate due to corruption, even before being elected. Then Gerald Ford gave him a full pardon.
After Ford came Carter, an intelligent, honest man who was vilified because of the Iran Prisoners and the failed attempt to rescue them. The Iranians held them until the day after the election, which Carter lost to Ronald Reagan.
Reagan came along with his "trickle down theory", which basically helped the wealthy, spent billions on the military, pushing up the debt. then came Ollie North and Iran-Contra, siphoning money to arm rebels in Nicaragua.
Then we got George H W Bush, who at one time in a grocery store didn't even know what a price scanner was. (Should have given us a clue about GW) Another one-term President!
So then we come to Bill Clinton, who actually accomplished quite a bit in his Presidency, ( if you leave out the BJ bit ) leaving us with a surplus. so along comes the junior Bush for 2 terms, and we all know how that turned out! Massive debt, compounded with two wars (unpaid for) Medicare Part D, (unpaid for), no negotiating drug prices with Big Pharma even though Medicare is the largest user other than the VA, which negotiates prices. Dick Cheney, the most evil person to ever occupy the Vice Presidency, making billions for Halliburton while ripping off the soldiers fighting the war in Iraq!
So along comes a youthful, vibrant, charismatic Barack Obama. Only problem with him is he's black! By this time, the takeover of Congress by Big Money is almost complete, with the Citizens United decision by the Supreme Court, with the words " we see no probability of corruption or the appearance of corruption with this decision". Not only that, but the appearance of the Tea Party radicals, who are then co-opted by the wealthy, like Rove and Gingrich and their cohorts , They are sworn on Obama's inauguration to make him a one term President by blocking anything he tries to accomplish, even if it was their idea to start with. 8 years of stonewalling by Republicans and their hissie-fits!
The takeover is completed by the Democrats staying home during the mid-terms in 2010, thereby sealing the fate of voters by giving the Republicans control of state governments and redistricting maps.
Trump is the culmination of 45 years of Republican greed, theft, conspiracy, corruption, and Democratic indifference to voting and involvement in politics.
We have no one to blame but ourselves. Hopefully we have awakened enough to get involved, learn from the past and turn out en-mass in November and show these people who our government belongs to! I can only hope!
