I am finally content with my position in life. Having just read an article about man always striving for more, reaching for goals simply because you need more in life, I am beginning to understand why people are not happy, they're just locked into not being happy with what they already have .
The author cited a study where they gave people pagers (1980's) and asked them 2 questions to be written down when the pager went off. #1 was on a scale of 1-10 how happy are you at the moment? #2 was what is going on in your life to make you feel this way? Most of the time, it was a 7. It went up or down but always ended up at 7. I have been there, much like many of you. Fortunately, I believe I have arrived at a 9 most of the time. I am content with my position in life for the first time. I no longer hunger for more, no longer need more. Life is not perfect, but I'm close. I stopped chasing rainbows years ago and now enjoy the pleasure each day brings me. Happiness with family and friends, financially stable, (fortunately), spending time teaching my beloved great grandson and enjoying his company! What more do I need? I wish the same for all the people in my life and may it come before you die. It took me 65 years to understand how rich I am with just what I have. May peace find YOU and may you have a great day! dennismoconnor.com Comments are closed.
