Someone once said to me take all your "ism's" and shove them! Of course, I was offended, but not by him saying to shove them. I was offended by the fact that he was too stubborn to allow someone to express themselves.
In one way, he was right. I do live by many "ism's". One is "Realism". Now realism can have many forms, I'm sure, but to me it means reality, the time and space you occupy at this moment! And the only way you change that is to make decisions. They can be haphazard, or they can be well thought out. The well thought out ones are the best! Then we have "Idealism" Idealism can be good or bad, but it is based on a set of learned "ideals". What idealism means to me is that we are all taught a set of guidelines that are supposed to carry us through life. And many do. But the opposite side of the coin is "Ideology" or "Idolatry", which is where "Idealism" takes a dark turn. There are those among us, many. many, many among us, who will believe anything that fits their narrative. Too many these days are afraid to be independent of others "Ideals", to think what they really believe may not be true! Then we have "Fatalism". "Fatalism" or a "Fatalist" is the belief that no matter what you do, everything is going to go wrong. I know, I used to be one, until I learn to be a realist. Now, I know that barring any unforeseen circumstances, I control my life. I reason things out, does this make sense or not, and I make a decision. So there, I have exorcised my "Ism's" and now I will go back to just being me! #Resist2018 dennismoconnor.com Dennis M O'Connor For Common Sense Legislator Maine District 72 Comments are closed.
