Fighting the good fight

God!

8/1/2020

I don't understand, but for some reason this morning I feel compelled to write about god or gods, whatever the case may be.
As most know, I am an atheist. I have chosen to believe that way because I cannot fathom why anyone needs a fictional entity created by man to control the masses through fear of the unknown. I don't fear the unknown. In fact, I have learned not to fear most anything. Your thoughts are controlled by you.
We all need to believe in something to guide us through life's
trials and tribulations. I understand that. but to turn your life and thinking processes over to a fictional being so that you are not responsible for the decisions you make in life is, in my opinion, ludicrous.
I will not knock your right to believe.
I will not knock the fact that most believers believe that way because they were raised in the church and you tend to hang on to what you are taught from birth. It's called indoctrination.
But what I will knock is the thought that I can't lead a completely moral life without assistance from a fictional being. I have lived a very moral life by most standards, which is more than I can say about the moral decay occurring among believers in today's society.
Where is the "love thy neighbor" crowd when it comes to bigotry towards anyone who isn't white and christian?
Where is the  "do unto others" crowd when it comes to poverty and despair?
Generally, they are at the "I've got mine, get your own" trough. And I do, in a certain sense, understand those feelings. But does that mean we have no obligation to try to help? I don't think so!
I have tried, to the best of my ability, to stand for others in my life. I have tried to be generous with my time and knowledge. But that is me and who I am.
Do I make mistakes along the way? Of course I do. Do I correct them as best I can? Sure. And it doesn't mean I won't make more. I'm still alive and human!
All I wish is that supposed believers who profess their faith in a god would live by the standards they try to set for others according to the way they themselves believe. I don't see that happening today in any way.
Today it's a dog-eat-dog world, primarily because of the people we elect to lead us falling off the rails and stealing everything for themselves. It will end, soon.
We are on the precipice and in many ways I don't think we can fall back. Time will tell!
But in the meantime, vote those miserable thieves out of the office they hold and put some decent people in their places, if you can find any that aren't already corrupt!
May peace find it's way to your door and may you have a great day.

I am a 70 year young soul with the grit and stamina of a 40 year old, who has much to contribute before I decide to leave this world.
I believe in equal rights for all. I am no better or worse than you unless you or I prove otherwise.
You do not have the right to determine my life any more than I have the right to determine yours.
Your beliefs are your beliefs, mine are mine. If they happen to coincide, wonderful!
If not, let's talk about it!
We can make this world a better place,
but it will take all of us working together!
