I too often hear the words "climate change is a hoax". That it is either a natural cycle or not caused by man. Think about that!
We as a world have, in the past 100 years, utilized fossil fuels (which by the way are all carbon based) to fuel the industrial revolution. We today are driven to be a consumer society by the ruling class and the Earth be damned, we need a new iPhone every year. We no longer wear things out, we throw them out, not realizing or caring how they are disposed of. We spray deadly chemicals on our foods so the insects will not eat them, but in the process we are killing ourselves too. We are poisoning our soils forever, non-reversible, along with the waterways that soil drains into. Many areas of our country are so badly poisoned that people have been dying for years because of it, yet we sell water rights for short term gain in local budgets to corporations just so they can sell it back to us in plastic bottles. Where is the sense in that? When most people think climate change, they think of local conditions that they can see, not the overall picture. Climate change, drought in particular, dries out the vegetation and land to the point where it can no longer sustain life and becomes tinder-dry, which of course leads to massive burns that obliterate everything in it's path. Climate change is real, whether you wish to believe it or not, and it is caused by man and his habits. Take for example the drought conditions in Australia and our own western states. The entire continent of Australia is afire, with upwards of a billion animals lost to it, entire species being obliterated. The Koala's are now driven to the edge of extinction due to the lack of breeding pairs, because of climate change. The Great Barrier Reef is dying due to the warming of the oceans. Plankton, the food of many species of oceanic life, is dying. We have over-fished our oceans to the point of depletion of the fisheries. Yet man in general does not care, because according to them it does not exist. I am not a scientist, but I have lived during the fifties and sixties when this was actually started. We could almost set our clocks by the afternoon rain showers coming off the Gulf of Mexico. Today that does not exist, because we have covered the entire Earth with asphalt and concrete, thereby gathering solar heat all day long and heating the atmosphere to the point where normal storms are completely out of control. Is this what you want for future generations? Because if it is, we will have no future generations. Mankind itself is on the brink of extinction. I have a 7 year old great grandson, who I showed the pictures of Australia to. He was actually scared to the point of crying because he thought it was here. Is this what you want for your future? I know my words are a tiny blip in the scheme of things, but if enough people get involved right now, you might have a chance of saving it. But I doubt that will happen. I personally believe we are already beyond the tipping point, it's only a matter of time. May peace be with you. dennismoconnor.com Comments are closed.
