I have wanted to write about strong women for quite some time, I have just never gotten to it.
For many reasons, many men seem to be intimidated by strong women. I'm not one of them!
I married a strong woman, mainly because of her independence. She doesn't just need me, she wants me, because I treat her as an equal, with respect.
Seeing the women who marched in DC and around the world, who have been elected to Congress, who ran for president, who are in our nations military, who fight on the front lines of disease, who keep our families strong, I can't help but feel that this world would be a better place if we put reasonable minded women in charge. I'm not saying there aren't bad strong women, just nowhere near where the men are. Be thankful instead of denigrating them!
To the women out there who have the strength to fight these battles, I salute you. To the ones who don't or are struggling, have faith in yourselves. Don't let life beat you.
As always, may peace be with you.
I truly believe that we are in the middle of the 4th Reich! The parallels are clear! We have a corrupt executive branch, a corrupt Senate, a corrupt DoJ and a corrupt election system.
We are separating families at our borders that are simply doing what immigrants have been doing for millenia, seeking a better life for themselves. We are breaking up and deporting families that have been here for years. We are deporting military veterans who have fought in our wars, risked their lives only to be told to go home to a country that is foreign to them. We now have the Brownshirts of ICE going in illegally to sanctuary cities to round up people without papers. Sound familiar?
We already have the concentration camps, run by our own Congressmen in some cases, charging our government for first class accommodations while giving nothing but detention in return.
We have Nazis in waiting, simply waiting for the signal to proceed, and believe me, they are waiting!
The White Nationalists would love nothing better than to see a race war among our people!
3 people, 3, Bezos, Buffet and Gates, own more wealth than the entire lower half of our country. How much longer can we survive the inequality before it crushes us? How many billions does one person need? I know I live well on SS and savings, having paid off all my debt years ago while I was in the work force. People can't do that today. They are fortunate if they have the money to pay rent and not be homeless because of an illness. We are a sick society and getting sicker by the day.
I realize I, as only one person, can't really change much, but I must continue to try. And you must too, or we are lost! We must stand together against the onslaught against our society!
As always, may you find peace in your world.
Today I want to talk about decency, civility and respect so sorely missing in the society of today.
As you all probably know, I recently lost my best friend to cancer. Today, I don't necessarily want to talk about him, but what he represented. He was the epitome of what a person should be.
He overcame a humble beginning to become what I considered to be a great man. He wasn't a wealthy man by any means, but he was rich. He had hundreds of friends and family who mourned his passing, he was loved by most who met him. I know, because he was loved by me for what he was, a decent person and a brother.
We as a country have a long day to go to ever become what we should be again. When I compare the decency of one man against the humanity of today, I am disgusted! This man always had a kind word, a hand up to someone who needed it, a joke, laughter. In 47 years,I never had a cross word with him. Why can we not learn from people like him?
When you rich folks go home to your mini-mansions, to your fancy cars and boats and what have you, are you really happy, or do you worry someone else may try to take it from you? Do you raise selfish brats like yourselves, or do you teach them to do unto others what they would want done to them?
To you low-information or no information voters, who base your vote on a person's looks or maybe something that you feel they said that you agree with, remember one thing, they don't care about you, all they want is your vote, and they will convince you in any way they can to get it, whether it be lies or propaganda. You're being brainwashed!
So I go back to my main point and that is decency. When we again can treat each other with respect and decency, we may survive. But if we continue on the same path we are on, the decline of our society will rapidly increase! Civility and decency will cease to exist and our experiment in democracy will fail. As always, may peace be with you.
So where to begin on a day like today. The orange shit-gibbon gets acquitted for basically treason by all but 1 GOP Senator, he gives a Medal of Freedom to a vile piece of shit like Limbaugh, who has done more in his life to belittle minorities and cause the LOSS of freedom for many, while a 100 year old BLACK Tuskegee Airman who risked his life for HIS country in WW2 sits in the audience. Sort of tells you that most Republicans are cowards and traitors themselves, at least in the Congress! And you idiots that continue to defend him and vote for him don't care that we are losing The UNITED States of America and the planet Earth.
It is obvious that you will never learn, until you have to crawl back under the rocks you called home before this asshole came along and brainwashed your feeble brains.
We have, IN THIS COUNTRY, the highest rate of incarceration in the world, we have the most fucked-up medical system in the modern world, we have concentration camps where children are dying, we have the most screwed up tax system that is heavily weighted to the top 1% and corporations that pay no taxes on billions in profit, we have student LUNCH DEBT, whereby if you owe money or can't pay you get a sandwich, we have white supremacists who believe they are better than all others, yet we are supposedly the richest country in the free world. I CALL BULLSHIT!
How much longer? We are killing the planet and all it's inhabitants with chemical poisons that will never go away, yet expect to be able to walk down the aisle of a grocery sore and just pick up what we want, while others starve, and we don't CARE! We have OURS! To hell with the pollinators and IMMIGRANTS who pick that food, they're expendable, a cost of doing business!
We were once a great country, based in shared prosperity for all. We are now basically a third world country run by an ego-maniacal traitor. and backed by a Congress filled wit sycophants who are so afraid of losing their seats and lifetime benefits that even though they agree he's guilty, they won't convict and remove him. Never thought I'd see that day in my life.
You can do what you feel necessary to survive, but I will start freeze-drying food for the future. Best of luck to you!
May you someday, before it's too late, come to your senses.
I have come to realize that our differences, our individual uniqueness, our viewpoints on life and our fellow humans will eventually destroy us as a species.
I awoke this morning thinking about the circumstances of my birth and the experiences I went through growing up. These are what formed me as an adult.
We have no choice of who we are born to or the life we are born into. Some will be born into poverty or abuse, neglect or just plainly not ideal circumstances. Others will be born into wealth and all the advantages of life. Because of these factors, our way of treating others is determined. Whether you are rich or poor, you look at the world from different perspectives.
If you are born into the lower classes of life, you begin at a definite disadvantage. You develop anger, despair, frustration, or just plain hopelessness. Your education level is diminished, your earning potential is less, your pathway in life is a lot more like growing up on a road full of potholes and crumbling pavement.
On the other hand, being born into the upper class affords you the luxury of all the opposites of poverty. You attend better funded schools, you dress better, you can afford cars and luxuries others don't have, thereby giving you a much better chance at a better life.
Which brings me to my point. Because of, let's say 1000 people of the ultra rich, who own 98% of the wealth in this world, we are set upon each other to destroy ourselves, while they sit in their castles and laugh. We are our own worst enemy to ourselves. This country and the world are split 50/50 among the haves and have-nots.
I was born into the have-not category, but with a very bright mind and 2 wonderful women who taught me empathy, Sure, I was bullied for that. Pansy, 4 eyes, etc. but I learned how to care about others even less fortunate than me. I also learned how to deal with the rich brats. We are all a variation of our environment growing up. At the age of 18, I had taken enough and my anger finally spilled out. I finally confronted one of the bullies of my life, and I had so much anger built up inside of me if I had so much as touched him, I probably would have killed him. But I didn't. Scared the shit out of him, but I didn't harm him. That taught me a lesson I never forgot. You are going to meet these people all your life, learn to adjust and live with it and try to change their views. That's all you can do.
We also learn biases. The wealthy are predominately white, therefore a majority look down upon people of color because of learned biases, while people of color have biases in the opposite direction, jealousy, envy, etc. Can you imagine if the world were more evenly divided, that each person had the same advantages?
Whites believe they are losing those advantages due to changing demographics, and they don't like it, so their politics go the way of greed and anger. We are at constant war, fought by the lower classes over oil and munitions. We no longer are a species but rather 2, burning opposite ends of the candle, which sooner or later, presumably sooner, we will destroy ourselves through stupidity.
I truly feel sorry for the upcoming generations, as we are rapidly destroying any chance of them having a decent chance at a decent life. We have already destroyed our home planet, and believe me, we are already beyond the point of being able to save it. But Earth will adapt and survive, after man is gone. It's too bad we didn't learn soon enough!
May peace be with you the rest of your journey!
I know that people lose loved ones every single day, whether it be through tragedy, health, whatever reason, it's never easy, and I wish it didn't have to be that way, but we all have an expiration date stamped on our butts by the person who delivers us into the world.
I lost my best friend and brother of 47 years last week, and Faye and I say periodically "I can't believe he's really gone".
I went through mostly good times with him, maple sugaring, fishing, hunting, camping and whatever else came along. We were brothers of different mothers. I haven't thought too much about it this past week, but today was different. I can't go visit to talk or play cribbage or cuss at him!
For those that never met Lucien, I wish you had. He was one hell of a good person. He loved all who passed his way and didn't have a mean bone in his body. He was gentle but firm. He taught everything to his children, his grandchildren, and was starting on his great grandchildren.
He lived to be 80, which is a good long life, just never long enough. I and all who knew him will miss him greatly, but he will live forever in our hearts.
Lou, we will always love you!
May peace be with you.
I direct this at Republican voters because I would like some answers to many questions.
Why is it that whenever a politician is accused of sexual assault, graft, corruption, stupid statements that are completely and morally laughable, 99% of the time it's a Republican? I don't understand. Is this how you think or process your world, or is it that you are so tied to your beliefs that you can't see anything but your own world view. Are you so determined that your view is the correct one, that you can't entertain anything other than that? Can you not tell the the difference between lies and facts? Or do you simply not care?
I could not live my life by those standards! My mind is always open for a "discussion" about life decisions and their consequences. Why aren't yours?
The people involved in the running of our government are a criminal syndicate, formed over the past 40 years or so and started by the election of Ronald Reagan, who summarily began the dismantling and crippling of our system of governance, instead directing all the benefits to the upper class. Donald John Trump is a mob boss, nothing more. And his syndicate consists of the people he put in charge to destroy our country. Are YOU good with this? If so, why?
This will continue until one of two things happen. Either we as a people come together in peace and destroy them from their evil ways, or we become completely subservient to the ruling class! It's really your choice! Do you continue to listen to the purveyors of lies and extremism on Faux News, or do you actually use your brain for something other than a storage depot for what others want you to think.
You can change, but it takes a willingness and an awakening to be able to do this. Are you capable of listening to your inner soul or are you going to continue to be a sheep in the flock of fools.
It's your choice, choose wisely!
Peace be with you.
I too often hear the words "climate change is a hoax". That it is either a natural cycle or not caused by man. Think about that!
We as a world have, in the past 100 years, utilized fossil fuels (which by the way are all carbon based) to fuel the industrial revolution. We today are driven to be a consumer society by the ruling class and the Earth be damned, we need a new iPhone every year. We no longer wear things out, we throw them out, not realizing or caring how they are disposed of.
We spray deadly chemicals on our foods so the insects will not eat them, but in the process we are killing ourselves too. We are poisoning our soils forever, non-reversible, along with the waterways that soil drains into. Many areas of our country are so badly poisoned that people have been dying for years because of it, yet we sell water rights for short term gain in local budgets to corporations just so they can sell it back to us in plastic bottles. Where is the sense in that?
When most people think climate change, they think of local conditions that they can see, not the overall picture. Climate change, drought in particular, dries out the vegetation and land to the point where it can no longer sustain life and becomes tinder-dry, which of course leads to massive burns that obliterate everything in it's path.
Climate change is real, whether you wish to believe it or not, and it is caused by man and his habits. Take for example the drought conditions in Australia and our own western states. The entire continent of Australia is afire, with upwards of a billion animals lost to it, entire species being obliterated. The Koala's are now driven to the edge of extinction due to the lack of breeding pairs, because of climate change. The Great Barrier Reef is dying due to the warming of the oceans. Plankton, the food of many species of oceanic life, is dying. We have over-fished our oceans to the point of depletion of the fisheries. Yet man in general does not care, because according to them it does not exist. I am not a scientist, but I have lived during the fifties and sixties when this was actually started. We could almost set our clocks by the afternoon rain showers coming off the Gulf of Mexico. Today that does not exist, because we have covered the entire Earth with asphalt and concrete, thereby gathering solar heat all day long and heating the atmosphere to the point where normal storms are completely out of control. Is this what you want for future generations? Because if it is, we will have no future generations. Mankind itself is on the brink of extinction.
I have a 7 year old great grandson, who I showed the pictures of Australia to. He was actually scared to the point of crying because he thought it was here. Is this what you want for your future?
I know my words are a tiny blip in the scheme of things, but if enough people get involved right now, you might have a chance of saving it. But I doubt that will happen. I personally believe we are already beyond the tipping point, it's only a matter of time.
May peace be with you.
My observations of what this world has become are not that of the average person, for I have had a lifetime of insight that most people do not.
Donald John Trump is a very sick mentally disturbed individual, but he is really not the main problem. The main problem lies within each and every one of us, for many reasons.
The average individual, depending on their circumstances, has no idea how the rest of the world lives, nor do they care. The average individual is so concerned about their own well being that they have no time to even consider the rest of the world. Most people don't even know their neighbor, let alone other cultures, and they have no need to see others as they really are. We all go through the same trials and tribulations, we just don't take the time to get to know others.
We blame everyone else for our failure to progress and succeed, yet don't realize that we collectively are not the real problem.
We are failing to invest in the future of our planet, our home in the universe, so diverse, yet blindly following the Elites who continue to hold everyone else down, hoard all the value, keep the population dumb so they won't rebel, make them think that everyone else is the source of your woes.
Keep the lower classes ignorant and poor. blame other ethnicity's, other religions, other cultures as being the root of their problems, yet all the while stealing you blind. And the sad thing is, you don't wish to see it. You continue on with your hatred and ignorance, your blind allegiance, because to question it would mean for once you must face reality and the truth about yourselves.
I have lived 73 years on this Earth and during that time I have met many wonderful, diverse people, simply because I refuse to criticize someone I know nothing about until they reveal themselves to me, whether through talk or actions. My philosophy has always been and always will be that your life is a puzzle, each person entering your life for any reason, good or bad, is a piece of that puzzle. If you outright refuse someone based upon your ideas of what they should or should not be, you have lost a piece of your puzzle and will never be complete. How difficult is it for you to simply give peace a chance, instead of the wars we are carrying out in our minds. Do you really hate someone simply because you perceive them to be inferior to you, not worthy of consideration. I know many of you do and I really find that disturbing. How hollow you must be, how insecure in yourself that you must degrade others to feel good about yourself. You are being taken for the worst ride of your life and you don't see it, nor do you even want to. I truly feel sorry for you, because you are missing the best part of being alive. My biggest problem is you are taking me along with you on that ride and it's not where I want to go.
Get one thing through your heads, there are about 1,000 people who own this planet, and you are not one of them.
People like Bezos, Zuckerberg, Trump. They could not care less about whether you live or die. Actually, they would prefer you die! Then they would have it all, except the one fault in that is that they would have no one to look down upon, to do their dirty work. Slavery is still very much alive and 99% of the people are bound to it through class or monetary means, and that includes you!
Wake up and recognize that you are not perfect, far from it. We are all weak in some way, but do you have to blindly follow that weakness? I don't and I won't! I am stronger than you and I will fight injustice wherever I see it. Maybe you should try it sometime.
May peace be upon all of you and may you realize soon that you are wrong.
I often wonder, why does most of humanity feel the need for a spirit that, in their minds, is all-seeing, all-knowing, yet only answers certain prayers, but they choose this entity to rule their lives and their thinking. I just don't get it.
I feel I have lived a good and decent life, helping others along the way. But I never felt the need for some unknown entity to help me. I made my decisions and suffered the consequences of them.
So of course, with me being an atheist and all, I have to wonder how people come to believe in their own "god"? I mean there are probably about 1500 or so "gods"! How did you chose? Was it what you were taught by your parents, that their parents taught them, and so forth. I wonder!
I don't spend all of my life in fear of heaven or hell, simply because of someone who went to a bible college and says he communes with "god" and you will go to hell if you don't listen to him!
I will enjoy what life I've had or will have in the future without living in fear every day and guiding my life because of it. No thanks!
Peace be with you all in the new year!
I haven't written much lately because I have had a lot going on, but as usual things cross my mind.
With all the goings on in the country, I have a tendency to think too much, especially at night.
I am pleased to finally see Articles of Impeachment, but it brings me to what I had going on in my head. We need to turn Republicans as well as fence sitters. As much as I despise what the Republican Party stands for in this day and age, we still need everyone we can get to vote against this mob boss and his cabal. Many you will never reach, and I understand that, but there are others that are becoming disillusioned with what he is doing. Those are the ones we must reach!
Therefore, I will enter into NO shouting match, name calling, (can't guaranty no rants) or otherwise nasty rhetoric that they love to spout, like, go home (I am), love it or leave it (that goes both ways), don't protest a valid president because you lost (he's not valid by 3,000,000 less votes, but the electoral college and the moneyed interests), And a lot of other shit.
I will try, knowing it's nearly impossible, but I will try.
So I extend my hand to all to talk or discuss calmly the ramifications of what will happen if we don't turn this train around.
As always, love to all in this season and may peace be with you.
While watching the impeachment hearings today, I couldn't help but notice that when you have an honest and competent witness, the Republicans don't know what to do. So they attack and repeat the same bullshit over and over again. They have no original ideas, they know he's guilty as hell and they have no defense. I would find it amusing if not for the fact that they are facilitating the destruction of the United States and killing many people in the process in foreign countries.
This is no longer humorous! We are in the midst of the worst crisis America has faced in it's history. We have a renegade President causing great harm just to satisfy his enormous ego and you have a Republican Party that only cares about protecting themselves and their benefactors and donors. We can't survive this if something isn't done soon.
We are turning on allies, we are abandoning allies on the battlefield in wars we should not be in and they see it. They are losing faith in this wonderful country. Is this the way you want it to be? Are you that shallow or ignorant? Think of your children and grandchildren, do they deserve this?
Impeach and convict this miserable bastard and all his enablers, the world will survive it. What it will not survive is the takeover by Republicans!
I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I am an independent, have been most of my adult life. While I identify with the thinking of the Democrats, I still will not belong to the ideologies of a particular political party.
You can deny all you care to, but we are in serious trouble and the only way out is a revolution of ideas. The democratic socialists have the right idea, because capitalism is not working for the masses, it's only working for the billionaire class.
Open your eyes, open your mind to new ideas, open your mind to truth. It's liberating!
As always, may your life be good and peaceful.
With the situation here in the states being what it is, I hear a lot of people comparing the US to Canada, as in " if it goes south here, I'm heading for Canada"!
I have a friend in Florida that I was talking to last week and she is from Canada, a snowbird. Of course the conversation drifted to the difference in healthcare, government and politics in general.
A lot of people think of Canada as a utopia, where they have universal healthcare, cheap drugs and a stable government, which they do.
But in talking to a Canadian, it's not all sweets and honey. They have problems with wait times just like we do, but there is a difference between the two. In Canada, the wait times are caused by prioritizing their medical delivery system to care for the sickest first. Elective surgeries do not take precedence over emergencies. Mediction does not put you in the poorhouse or bankruptcy.
In America it's what is in your insurance, does it cover this or that, with the insurance company trying to see what they can deny, and then how cheaply then can get it for. The Pharmaceutical companies want extortion rates on drugs that the US pays for and then gives to the insurance company to gouge us for 20 years by issuing a patent.
All is not well anywhere any more, but we can at least stop being stupid and allowing these companies to buy our politicians and dictating policies that benefit only them. Washington is corrupt, as are many state legislatures, we all know that.
2101 billionaires own as much as the entire middle class in this country and you think that's OK? Let me sell you a bridge in Brooklyn, NY. Nice riverside view!
Inequality is dangerous, both for the ones who have it and the ones who don't. Mark my words, the next few years are not going to be pretty.
So if you want instant gratification, or feel you should be treated better than the next person because you have money, think again and don't go to Canada, because believe me, they don't want your short-sighted ass!
If you feel you can wait a few months for an elective surgery and cheaper meds that you can afford, put up with an English type government, and be treated with respect, then by all means if the shit hits the fan here, I'm going there, if they will have me. Don't get me wrong, I loved what this country used to be. I remember a simple time, when neighbors helped neighbors. Hell, nowadays, you don't know your neighbor, and you don't care.
I remember a simpler time when you left your doors unlocked because you had reason to trust, you didn't worry about walking home at night, when you didn't have all the technology driving you, when life revolved around the next coule of miles. You had friends and neighbors you talked to.
Life has gotten very chaotic in the past thirty years, mainly due to greed by 2101 greedy people! Don't you think it's feasible that no one needs a billion dollars, much less multiple billions?
Just remember one thing "It's only money". Survival of the fittest will depend upon knowledge of the real world, not the financial world. That money will be worth nothing, to you or anybody else. The only way mankind will stay alive is by adaptation to it's surroundings, and that takes knowledge and planning. Rich people will die off quickly, because food can only be preserved for a limited time, and they know not how to get their hands dirty.
I know I have rambled on a bit, but that's what happens when you live in Maine and have free weed and can't sleep!
But getting back to the US versus Canada, it's not all that different. Yes we have different problems and objectives, but the Canadian people take their country a lot more seriously than we do or we wouldn't be in the mess we're in.
Think about that for awhile!
As always, may you have peace in your life and may you learn to treat your fellow man with dignity!
Warning! This may be a bit lengthy.
I am deeply saddened tonight that our country has reached the point we have. Most of my adult life, I have surrounded myself with good people who I have considered to be good friends, people I trusted, people who I have loved, people who I have shared my life with, only to find that most of them blindly follow the Republican mantra of greed and corruption. I can no longer, for my own peace of mind, continue to tolerate this. I have already lost many good people who I considered family, because of the piece of shit named Donald J. tRump and what we presently refer to as the Republican Party. I am sure many others feel the same about losing friends and family, but politics in our country is corrupt and toxic. We have lost 11 years accomplishing nothing on critical issues, such as climate, energy, infrastructure, etc.
I have tried my best to maintain a modicum of civility towards people of differing opinions. I have tried not to criticize too heavily in conversations. But you people who believe in DJT have .collectively drank the Kool-aid. You don't want facts. You want narratives that fit your mindset. You no longer believe in your fellow man's right to the same playing field.
As you sit in your comfortable home, with heat and air conditioning, with a fridge full of food, you condemn the homeless as lazy, miserable people who should not be helped by YOUR tax dollars, yet you allow the scum in DC to give it all to Big Pharma, Big Oil, private prisons, constant war, malfeasance, graft and golf trips to Florida or other properties
You no longer believe that women should have control over their own lives, that abortion is criminal, yet you take away all benefits to the children after they are born.
You no longer believe that children should have access to a decent, healthy meal each day. You allow children to be shamed because they don't have lunch money, to be forced to go hungry when it may be their only meal that day.
You no longer believe that children should have access to a decent education and future unless it's through private schools funded by tax dollars and run by religious organizations.
You believe that the wealthy should have all the money and shouldn't have to pay taxes.
You believe that you are the only ones who should have access to healthcare, because it may take a bit of YOUR money to support universal care, yet people are dying because they can't afford simple insulin, which costs next to nothing to produce.
You apparently have no problem with corruption and fascism, because the right-wing white nationalists are the Brown-shirts in waiting, with their guns and jackboots, holdovers from the 30's and Naziism. This is no longer a "white country" , it is and always has been a melting pot of nationalities. Get used to it and make friends instead of enemies, because it will continue for the remainder of our lives.
Quite frankly, you disappoint me. Many of you are good people, but continue to vote against the common worker who didn't have the same opportunities that you had. What has become of today's Republican Party is disgusting. There was a time in my life when I could have voted Republican, because they stood with the people. Not today!
Many of you are a bunch of weak kneed sycophants who are buying into this bullshit because of hatred for what you call "libtards". They have divided us to control us and you don't see it. DJT is not making America great again, he is destroying it from within. You know it but will never admit it.
Those of you in Florida and other beach-side communities can see the damage from pollution, such as red ride or deadly algae blooms, but you seem to take it in stride as natural. The Gulf is dying from oil.spills, yet we continue to tolerate drilling for more. The Galapagos Islands which are a microcosm of evolution, are dying. The Great Barrier Reef is dying. the permafrost in Alaska and Siberia is thawing, Japan wants to dump millions of gallons of radioactive wastewater into the sea from the Fukishima nuclear plant.
I honestly feel sorry for you and the future generations of your children and grandchildren. You will pay part of the price, but they will be so overwhelmed by what we leave them that they will hate our generation for the remainder of their lives, if they even have time.
I know damn well I have not covered everything by a long shot, but I'm sure that I will think of more daily!
In the meantime, enjoy this dystopia you have created, because you don't have much time left!
As always, may peace be with you and may you someday again learn to compromise.
When I started this site, I did it because I was running for public office. With that being finished, I am now writing for myself, either to blow off steam sometimes or to express my feelings about life.
There will come a time in everyone's life when you will lose a loved one, be it a child, parent, spouse or dear friend. It's inevitable.
Tonight I am writing about a life-long friend who has been given a terminal diagnosis. And the reason I am writing about him is twofold, one is to let him know how much he means to me and my life, how much he is loved by his family and friends, the other is to help others who are going through the same thing, mainly families facing death of a loved one.
When we enter this life we are given no guarantees about how long we will be here. Some lives will be long, some only moments.
I know that I too am entering that portion of my life when I live from day to day with no guaranty about tomorrow. But I refuse to let it limit my activities and enjoyment while I'm here.
As to you, my friend, you were there when I was young and dumb and needed a shoulder to lean on. You pulled me through some hard times. We became brothers when you relied on me to help you through rough times. We didn't have that many, but when we did, we were there for each other.
We had many good times, too many to count and mostly at my expense, because you usually got the best of me with your jokes and pranks. We rode our Harley's together and went on camping, hunting and fishing trips.
We raised our children together and you accepted me into your family. And what a wonderful family. I have never met nor will I ever again meet another person who was as dedicated to his family as you are. I have never had another friend as true as you. Nor will I ever have another. I can honestly say to you, "I love you" as a friend and as a brother.
I will be there until the end, but I refuse to have regrets about what we did or didn't do. We lived life to the fullest, keeping others on their toes at all times, and I will continue to do that the rest of my life.
You will be well remembered, by many hundreds of people who's lives you have made better by being a part of them.
To others who are facing the same circumstances, keep one thing in mind. You never question friendship, you live it. Friends will come and go in your life, but true friends are there no matter what, good times and bad.
We all have an expiration date. Some know it, some don't.
Personally, I would rather know it, but that's just me.
The world will continue on as it always does, generation after generation. Celebrate the life you had with that person, laugh about the stupid things, tell stories about the things you did. Think of the ones who went before us, their lives memorialized in our stories, the love and laughter, in a moment of time.
Any thing you haven't said or done, now is the time. Don't wish later on that that you had.
My credo is to live your life to the fullest, because the only thing you're going leave is a memory. Make that memory the best memory that you possibly can!
To all who read this and whoever it affects, I send love and hope that you can carry on!
