Let's talk about cannabis, specifically about the useless prohibition and criminalization of it that has failed for nearly a century! In 1937, in order to vilify Mexicans that were establishing themselves in the US after the Mexican Revolution, they passed the Stamp Act of 1937, thereby prohibiting the use of "marihuana". It was eventually declared unconstitutional, and the Controlled Substances Act was passed in the 1970's. Marijuana was temporarily placed in the Schedule 1 category until a study could be done to figure out where it should be placed. That study was never done, so it was never taken out of Schedule 1. Prior to 1937, marijuana enjoyed a 5000 year history as a therapeutic drug, across many cultures. Having used cannabis for pain for many years, I personally can attest to the facts that; #1, I am not addicted nor have I ever been. I stopped usage for many years and the only time I depend on it is now for nerve pain.
#2 In all the years I have been around people that do smoke, I have never seen anyone react to it in any form of aggression other that maybe laughing too loud, and there is no way you can OD on weed. Maybe get a little too high, but nothing else. Plainly speaking, it is time to end the ignorance and criminality of cannabis. We have billions of pieces of plastic polluting our oceans, lakes, waterways and landfills, killing fish and wildlife, that will take many years, if at all, to degrade. Meanwhile, we have hemp, which can be made into biodegradable plastics, clothing, oil, food, and many other products. This is just plain stupidity! Remove the prohibition on cannabis, stop destroying peoples lives for a personal choice, and utilize cannabis for good. It can and should be done! #Resist2018 dennismoconnor.com Attributes to Drug Policy Alliance for certain facts. Comments are closed.
