Well, we're down to the last 7 days. I must say, it has been interesting and tiring, but enjoyable,
To those of you who have listened and talked with me, I thank you. To those of you who have chosen to vote for me, I thank you especially! I know I will not please all, but I hope to fulfill my obligations to the best of my ability for the majority. The people of Maine and especially the district of Mechanic Falls, Oxford, and Otisfield have been good to me and now is the time to give back. I have lived in all three towns over the years, so I am familiar with them, and each has it's own good points. But mostly it is it's people! With that said, there's not much more I can do except wait for Tuesday and see what happens. So again, I thank you all and will figure out Tuesday night where my life will go for the next 2 years. May peace be within you, and may you pass it on! dennismoconnor.com 11 Jews killed today because of hatred!
11 Jews killed today because another angry, hateful person had access to an AR-15! The anger must stop, the hatred must stop, the division must stop, or we as a nation will stop being America. Congress no longer works for you, the president no longer works for you, all of our institutions that are supposed to help and protect you are being dismantled from within. And it's all being done on purpose! I've said it before, I'll say it again. This is a takeover of our government institutions by the uber-rich, and it will not stop until you stop them! Vote like your life depends on it, because it might! May peace be within you and may you pass it on to others! dennismoconnor.com What's it like to be a true independent? I'll tell you!
You wonder all the time how many people you have convinced to cross party lines and vote for someone who will work for you and not a party apparatus. You wonder if you've done all you can. I have enjoyed this journey and think I have enlightened quite a few people along the way. If I have convinced you or your friends and family, please, get out and vote November 6th. Being convinced is one thing, voting is another. Thank you for voting! May peace be with you. dennismoconnor.com As we near the finish line of this journey, it causes me to reflect on where I have been for the past year.
I have met and talked to a great many good people, whose views didn't always align with mine, but at least we talked. My views have not changed that much, but at least a majority of people believe in me. I take much pride in that. I believe I will be elected, but then I didn't doubt that at all. What I want to do from here is, if elected, I want to be an effective voice of the average person and their needs, not some party-line hack. I wish to thank all who have supported and encouraged me, from the jungles of South America to Alaska to Hawaii, California, and many other states. We know you can't vote for me, but your insight and discourse has kept me going. I appreciate that more than you know. As to the people who can and will vote for me, I want you to know I will be honest in my opinions and use the judgement and wisdom that I have gained in my lifetime in my decisions, keeping the entire state of Maine in mind when I do. I take great pride in having been endorsed by The Sierra Club of Maine, The Maine Education Association, and Equality Maine. Thank you all! No matter what happens on November 6th, this will be an experience I will never forget. Thank you to all! May peace be within you, and may you please spread it to others! dennismoconnor.com I think I have been given my answer to when this world will end as we know it.
We have been told that we have 12 years at the max to make drastic changes in how we manage our environment. As you know, we will not do it, because no one wants to give up their cushy life style here in the US. We refuse to quit buying new I-Phones each year, we refuse to adapt to biodegradable single use plastics, we refuse to even acknowledge that we have a problem. So consequently, in 10 to 12 years, we will have crossed a threshold that we cannot reverse. Our children, our grandchildren, and our great grandchildren will pay the price. Disease will multiply and become resistant to all our manufactured drugs, thereby killing millions. Natural disasters will become worse each and every year. The elevator in our oceans is slowing down, due to fresh water melt and overheating. If that stops, our world dies, no food! People buy millions of single use plastic bottles of water every day, and most of it goes into our oceans. And most of the water is filtered tap water. It's ridiculous! 12 YEARS! I for one will not be here to see it, but my great grandson will, and his mother doesn't seem to understand that her decisions (or non-decisions) will help create this mess. Mankind will eventually vanish from this Earth, but not until he has killed off everything that he can before he goes! We have been taught from birth that consumerism is good, capitalism is good, until it runs amok. Greed will be the end of us. What we do now will affect the remainder of our time on this planet, and I know for a fact we will not change before it is too late. Think about that for awhile and then do something about it, whatever it is will help. May peace be with you and may you finally wake up, we don't have forever. dennismoconnor.com I try to be an upbeat person, looking at the world from the perspective that things will get better.
I am finding that very difficult these days. Even if we get rid of the present crew destroying our country, I believe the ball has been set in motion to destroy us, because the people that believe so strongly in the status quo are not going to simply go away because we elect a Democratic Congress. We are destined to years of turmoil, and it may not be survivable. I can't imagine living for years under the cloud we have been fighting for the past 3 years, nor do I think others have the strength either. At some point, many will deem it as too much of a struggle and surrender. I fear that is not that far off, especially if this election is also stolen. We must go after the institutions that are creating these problems. The world is owned by a select few, and you have no real choices when it comes down to it. You are given a slate of several people, picked by the political Parties, who always have THEIR best interests in mind. I have a strong feeling that I will be elected to the Maine House, but I am but one minor voice in a sea of partisans. That being said, I intend to be a loud voice for the PEOPLE, not the special interests. Have a great day and may peace be with you. dennismoconnor.com Why do we have it? To protect against unknowns in out lives!
The funny thing about insurance is how it's applied. I'll give you an example. Today I received a "denial of service " letter from my wife's insurance company, and this is on a pre-approved procedure. It was for an amount over $4,000. Now, I know that even if they do pay it, it will be far less than $4,000, because insurance companies make deals with hospitals and doctors for a far lesser amount. So I called the insurance company and talk for about a half hour and finally got it straightened out, it was due to a provider # not being right. Now just suppose I didn't know how to go about straightening that out? I'm out $4,000, and being self pay , I get none of the discounts. Think about that for a moment, and then wonder why people are unnecessarily dying each day because they cannot afford to go to a doctor and take a chance at an astronomically high bill! We need Universal Healthcare, And the wealthy are going to give back some of the billions they have stolen and continue to steal, through economic policy tilted to the upper brackets. I once got an itemized bill by mistake from a hospital. It was for $254,000 for a hip surgery, that by the time it was paid was a little over $11,000. You wonder why we are in a death spiral? It's because everything is totally out of wack. Think about this and think, do I want to be in those positions or do I want to not have to worry about medical bills because I can go to any doctor anywhere. Your choice! Have a great day and may peace be with you. dennismoconnor.com Tonight I feel compelled to write about Susan Collins and her decision making process, regardless of the fact that she chose to stick with the party line vote against all the facts. Like it or not, judge Kavanaugh is a spoiled frat boy used to getting his way no matter what. I have no doubt in my mind that he did what he was accused of.
Now, everyone comes up with the argument that why didn't Ms. Ford come forward 35 years ago with her allegations. Did you bother to watch her testimony? Did you see the way she was treated by the public, or more specifically trump supporters? This is exactly why women do not come forward, because they are vilified as whores, sluts, man haters, liars, and whatever other cruel and indecent things that the mind can come up with. Susan Collins chose to go with the sham investigation and not believe Ms. Ford, even though she thought she was credible as a witness. I am ashamed to say that we have to put up with her decision-making process for 2 more years representing the Great State of Maine. With the people of Maine, who hopefully will etch this in their brains, we will hopefully be rid of her and her ilk in 2 years. WE DO NOT FORGET BETRAYAL, and she betrayed all the women of Maine and the United States with her vote to confirm Kavanaugh, who WILL remain under tight scrutiny! May peace be within you and may you pass it on! dennismoconnor.com It's coming down to crunch time, 32 days to go. I have been at this since January and have no regrets. I have met many wonderful people on my journey. My only hope is that the people who said they will vote for me go to the polls and do so.
Believe in the fact that this is the year of the Independent! This country was founded in independence, independence from tyrants and overlords. It's time to go back to our roots. Being an independent thinker, I can only promise you one thing, and that is to make decisions based on fact, good judgement, and common sense. So in the next 32 days, break out of the box and use your good judgement to vote for someone who came from your ranks. I am a commoner and damned proud of it. I am not a wealthy person, I spent my own funds and did this basically on my own. Those of you who met me while standing in 28 degree weather know that. All I ask is that you carry through when you enter that booth, because I am your best shot at common sense. I thank you for your support and hope that I gain the results I want. Thank You. May peace be within you. dennismoconnor.com I found this in my poems and believe I wrote it a while ago. But I don't remember writing it.
Rise Up As I sit alone at night sometimes, my mind can plainly see Anger, hate, and bigotry, from sea to shining sea You say take back your America, make it white again If you don’t love it, leave it Go back from whence you came “But sir, I was born in Brooklyn, in a mosque from whence I came” After all, I am a Muslim, but then, What’s in a name As Woodie Guthrie wrote This land is your land, this land is my land From the California to the New York island From the Redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters This land was made for you and me When did you sign the papers, I’d like to see the deed Otherwise prep for battle, the revolution will proceed Common sense and care for others, with help from a little jay Will overtake your hateful stand, and send you on your way I’m old and I’m tired, but I will get in your face Imagine the feel of a size 12 boot, when you start to feel the lace As I send it rushing upward towards the center of your ass You came after my countrymen, get down and smell the grass Go Woodie This land is your land, this land is my land From the California to the New York island From the Redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters This land was made for you and me Dose anyone in their right mind still believe that our entire legislative, judicial, and executive branches of government are not totally corrupt? The good old boy's club is alive and well. Sexual harassment, graft, lying, you name it, it goes on.
We are at the edge of the abyss, and very few people want to recognize it. Judges protecting judges, Congresspeople protecting each other, all the while being bought by wealthy donors, a president who has committed treason and lies each and every time he opens his mouth, allegedly assaulted 19 women and paid no penalty, much less been investigated for those crimes. What have we become? How much longer will we tolerate it? Until our way of life collapses? I am prepared, but 99.9% of Americans are not. I will try to change a small portion, but I sometimes feel I am pushing a large square rock up a steep hill. I still believe it can be changed, but it will take throwing out a lot of trash from the aforementioned institutions. So let's back up the dumpsters and get started on Nov. 6th. May peace be within you. dennismoconnor.com |
