I truly believe that we are in the middle of the 4th Reich! The parallels are clear! We have a corrupt executive branch, a corrupt Senate, a corrupt DoJ and a corrupt election system.
We are separating families at our borders that are simply doing what immigrants have been doing for millenia, seeking a better life for themselves. We are breaking up and deporting families that have been here for years. We are deporting military veterans who have fought in our wars, risked their lives only to be told to go home to a country that is foreign to them. We now have the Brownshirts of ICE going in illegally to sanctuary cities to round up people without papers. Sound familiar? We already have the concentration camps, run by our own Congressmen in some cases, charging our government for first class accommodations while giving nothing but detention in return. We have Nazis in waiting, simply waiting for the signal to proceed, and believe me, they are waiting! The White Nationalists would love nothing better than to see a race war among our people! 3 people, 3, Bezos, Buffet and Gates, own more wealth than the entire lower half of our country. How much longer can we survive the inequality before it crushes us? How many billions does one person need? I know I live well on SS and savings, having paid off all my debt years ago while I was in the work force. People can't do that today. They are fortunate if they have the money to pay rent and not be homeless because of an illness. We are a sick society and getting sicker by the day. I realize I, as only one person, can't really change much, but I must continue to try. And you must too, or we are lost! We must stand together against the onslaught against our society! As always, may you find peace in your world. dennismoconnor.com Today I want to talk about decency, civility and respect so sorely missing in the society of today.
As you all probably know, I recently lost my best friend to cancer. Today, I don't necessarily want to talk about him, but what he represented. He was the epitome of what a person should be. He overcame a humble beginning to become what I considered to be a great man. He wasn't a wealthy man by any means, but he was rich. He had hundreds of friends and family who mourned his passing, he was loved by most who met him. I know, because he was loved by me for what he was, a decent person and a brother. We as a country have a long day to go to ever become what we should be again. When I compare the decency of one man against the humanity of today, I am disgusted! This man always had a kind word, a hand up to someone who needed it, a joke, laughter. In 47 years,I never had a cross word with him. Why can we not learn from people like him? When you rich folks go home to your mini-mansions, to your fancy cars and boats and what have you, are you really happy, or do you worry someone else may try to take it from you? Do you raise selfish brats like yourselves, or do you teach them to do unto others what they would want done to them? To you low-information or no information voters, who base your vote on a person's looks or maybe something that you feel they said that you agree with, remember one thing, they don't care about you, all they want is your vote, and they will convince you in any way they can to get it, whether it be lies or propaganda. You're being brainwashed! So I go back to my main point and that is decency. When we again can treat each other with respect and decency, we may survive. But if we continue on the same path we are on, the decline of our society will rapidly increase! Civility and decency will cease to exist and our experiment in democracy will fail. As always, may peace be with you. dennismoconnor.com So where to begin on a day like today. The orange shit-gibbon gets acquitted for basically treason by all but 1 GOP Senator, he gives a Medal of Freedom to a vile piece of shit like Limbaugh, who has done more in his life to belittle minorities and cause the LOSS of freedom for many, while a 100 year old BLACK Tuskegee Airman who risked his life for HIS country in WW2 sits in the audience. Sort of tells you that most Republicans are cowards and traitors themselves, at least in the Congress! And you idiots that continue to defend him and vote for him don't care that we are losing The UNITED States of America and the planet Earth.
It is obvious that you will never learn, until you have to crawl back under the rocks you called home before this asshole came along and brainwashed your feeble brains. We have, IN THIS COUNTRY, the highest rate of incarceration in the world, we have the most fucked-up medical system in the modern world, we have concentration camps where children are dying, we have the most screwed up tax system that is heavily weighted to the top 1% and corporations that pay no taxes on billions in profit, we have student LUNCH DEBT, whereby if you owe money or can't pay you get a sandwich, we have white supremacists who believe they are better than all others, yet we are supposedly the richest country in the free world. I CALL BULLSHIT! How much longer? We are killing the planet and all it's inhabitants with chemical poisons that will never go away, yet expect to be able to walk down the aisle of a grocery sore and just pick up what we want, while others starve, and we don't CARE! We have OURS! To hell with the pollinators and IMMIGRANTS who pick that food, they're expendable, a cost of doing business! We were once a great country, based in shared prosperity for all. We are now basically a third world country run by an ego-maniacal traitor. and backed by a Congress filled wit sycophants who are so afraid of losing their seats and lifetime benefits that even though they agree he's guilty, they won't convict and remove him. Never thought I'd see that day in my life. You can do what you feel necessary to survive, but I will start freeze-drying food for the future. Best of luck to you! May you someday, before it's too late, come to your senses. dennismoconnor.com I have come to realize that our differences, our individual uniqueness, our viewpoints on life and our fellow humans will eventually destroy us as a species.
I awoke this morning thinking about the circumstances of my birth and the experiences I went through growing up. These are what formed me as an adult. We have no choice of who we are born to or the life we are born into. Some will be born into poverty or abuse, neglect or just plainly not ideal circumstances. Others will be born into wealth and all the advantages of life. Because of these factors, our way of treating others is determined. Whether you are rich or poor, you look at the world from different perspectives. If you are born into the lower classes of life, you begin at a definite disadvantage. You develop anger, despair, frustration, or just plain hopelessness. Your education level is diminished, your earning potential is less, your pathway in life is a lot more like growing up on a road full of potholes and crumbling pavement. On the other hand, being born into the upper class affords you the luxury of all the opposites of poverty. You attend better funded schools, you dress better, you can afford cars and luxuries others don't have, thereby giving you a much better chance at a better life. Which brings me to my point. Because of, let's say 1000 people of the ultra rich, who own 98% of the wealth in this world, we are set upon each other to destroy ourselves, while they sit in their castles and laugh. We are our own worst enemy to ourselves. This country and the world are split 50/50 among the haves and have-nots. I was born into the have-not category, but with a very bright mind and 2 wonderful women who taught me empathy, Sure, I was bullied for that. Pansy, 4 eyes, etc. but I learned how to care about others even less fortunate than me. I also learned how to deal with the rich brats. We are all a variation of our environment growing up. At the age of 18, I had taken enough and my anger finally spilled out. I finally confronted one of the bullies of my life, and I had so much anger built up inside of me if I had so much as touched him, I probably would have killed him. But I didn't. Scared the shit out of him, but I didn't harm him. That taught me a lesson I never forgot. You are going to meet these people all your life, learn to adjust and live with it and try to change their views. That's all you can do. We also learn biases. The wealthy are predominately white, therefore a majority look down upon people of color because of learned biases, while people of color have biases in the opposite direction, jealousy, envy, etc. Can you imagine if the world were more evenly divided, that each person had the same advantages? Whites believe they are losing those advantages due to changing demographics, and they don't like it, so their politics go the way of greed and anger. We are at constant war, fought by the lower classes over oil and munitions. We no longer are a species but rather 2, burning opposite ends of the candle, which sooner or later, presumably sooner, we will destroy ourselves through stupidity. I truly feel sorry for the upcoming generations, as we are rapidly destroying any chance of them having a decent chance at a decent life. We have already destroyed our home planet, and believe me, we are already beyond the point of being able to save it. But Earth will adapt and survive, after man is gone. It's too bad we didn't learn soon enough! May peace be with you the rest of your journey! dennismoconnor.com |
