DENNIS O'CONNOR

I dedicate this page to my great grandson gage

I first met Gage when he was 3 weeks old.
I fed him a bottle and he fell asleep on my chest, marking the beginning of my love affair with him.
To this day, that love goes both ways.
I AM HIS PAPA!
I have had much joy from my relationship with him throughout his short life and I'm looking forward to much more.
So this page will be a chronicle for updates and thoughts about my life with my great grandson.

I remember Gage's first year as the year he first rolled over, with a look on his face like "I finally did it"!
It was the year he first walked, walking and dropping, walking and dropping. Finally, he was able to stand by himself.
I used to give him his nightly bath 3 or 4 times a week and we had developed a routine. I would bathe him, dry him and head for our bedroom to dress and put his lotion on. As we entered the room, I would hold him over the bed about a foot high and just look at him. He knew what was coming, because that smile of trust just lit him up. I would then drop him onto the bed and the laughter would start. We'd play peek-a-boo, I would tickle him gently and he would fill the house with laughter. I can hear it today.
At the time, he was fascinated by GiGi's keys, in fact all keys. So I gave him a lock with a key, thinking I'd like to see how long it would take him to figure it out. !!! 15 minutes !!!! After that, there was not a lock in the house that wasn't attacked. And the taller he got, he went after the higher locks, same with cabinet doors. His curiosity had to know what was out of reach and what wasn't. I still see that curiosity today.
At 1  1/2 years old we gave him his first electric 4 wheeler. Took him about a month to figure that out, mainly the switch, to go smoothly.
