DENNIS O'CONNOR

I dedicate this page to my great grandson gage

I first met Gage when he was 3 weeks old.
I fed him a bottle and he fell asleep on my chest, marking the beginning of my love affair with him.
To this day, that love goes both ways.
I AM HIS PAPA!
I have had much joy from my relationship with him throughout his short life and I'm looking forward to much more.
So this page will be a chronicle for updates and thoughts about my life with my great grandson.

3 Days In!

3 days in and we are finally getting back to a more normal routine. Gage has been helping with the garden and helping burn the brush around here. He got to play fire marshal today by controlling and putting out the burn pit fire.
Since i added about 4 inches to the gas pedal, he can now drive the lawnmower by himself. He's not allowed to mow yet, just drive around the front yard. The chainsaw is another story. I think that will have to wait for a later time, not because he can't do it, but he's not attentive enough for it!
I  am really enjoying him being here, because he wants to learn so much.
So I will teach him as much as possible in the limited time I have him on a one-on-one basis. Love that boy with all my heart!

It's been an amazing 7 years since you were born. You have visited here twice since then and now you are coming for the summer. I have probably waited my entire life for this moment of graduation. I know we will have a great time! Less than 10 days to go!

Gage, I know that I will not live forever, so I am writing these pages to you so that after I am gone you will have a record to read about yourself and me.
I have loved you from the moment I met you at the airport and every day since. You have been one of the greatest joys I have ever had in my life. All I ever want of you is to be a kind and caring person like me and I will try to give you as much wisdom and knowledge as I can during the time we have left together. Hopefully that will be many years.
This is the summer that we finally get you all to ourselves, so I want it to be special. I want to teach you so much, I can only hope you want to learn it.
Your GiGi wants the same things as I and loves you just as much as I do! In 2 weeks, you will be here and I am so looking forward to it. Your peas are growing just fine, as is the rest of the garden. To be able to grow your own food is knowledge that many people have lost, but I will teach you if you want to learn.
Thank you for making the latter part of my life fun!
